With the latest chapter of the franchise hinting at its future, director Michael Chaves offers an update on The Conjuring 4 after the post-credits scene of The Nun II. Chaves, who previously directed The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Forced Me to Do It, returns to the James Wan-produced franchise with the sequel to the hit 2018 spin-off. The Nun II also sees the return of Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Bonnie Aarons as the demon Valak, who embarks on a series of murders of priests and nuns in Europe in search of a powerful artifact.

When asked about the film’s post-credits scene and how it establishes the connection to The Conjuring: The Last Rites, the franchise director mentioned that writing is still in progress for the fourth main film and acknowledged that “it could go in a couple different directions,” but expressed his enthusiasm for it and teased that there is “a big ending” planned.
